RDL Reports to Editable Documents: Feedback Needed

Recently we have implemented a very important feature requested by many users, export of RDL reports to fully editable (flow layout) documents. The flow layout mode, which is now default for Aspose.Words for Reporting Services, brings a number of noticeable benefits such as:

Aspose.Words for Reporting Services 2.0.1.0 Released

This hotfix release contains a critical update for the MSI installer related to installing the product on the Visual Studio 2005 Report Designer. Please upgrade if you have the installation process interrupted with an unexpected error “Could not properly install or configure Aspose.Words for Reporting Services…”

Loading of Microsoft Office 2007 Open XML (DOCX) documents is now supported!

Previous release, Aspose.Words for .NET 4.4.0 introduced the ability to save documents in the Microsoft Word 2007 DOCX format. How to Add Microsoft Word Export Formats to Visual Studio 2005 Report Designer

It’s a bit shameful but until recently I was almost sure that the Visual Studio 2005 Report Designer (Business Intelligence Development Studio) does not support custom rendering extensions and the export formats are hard coded 🙂 Thanks to one of our customers, it turned out I was wrong. We have finally added code examples to the Aspose.Words for Java API Reference.

New sample: Word2Help – a tool to split DOC file into HTML topics

We have turned a utility we use at Aspose in building of our product documentation into a public source code sample. It is available for download here http://www.aspose.com/Community/Files/51/aspose.words/entry94733.aspx

We author documentation in Microsoft Word and then use Word2Help to:

  • Split DOC file(s) into topics according to Heading styles.
  • Save each topic into a separate HTML file and export images into files.
  • Fix hyperlinks so the hyperlinks that were internal in a single DOC file continue to work across multiple HTML files.

Aspose.Words for Reporting Services 1.4.1.0 Released

This release introduces a very interesting feature. Now you can enable a special mode that will instruct the renderer to understand HTML text hosted within textboxes! This allows to apply different inline formatting such as bold or italic within the same textbox. Moreover, you can insert almost any HTML you wish!
